SWARM, SWARM, SWARM!!!
We’re all thinking about swarms right now and what to do!
Come join us to hear Scott and Kari Mofford talk about swarm management on Wednesday, April 23 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Hanson Clubhouse, 228 High Street.
Spring is here, and the urge to swarm for your colonies is right around the corner!
In their talk about swarm management, Kari and Scott will delve into some of the basics of why honeybees swarm, signs and behaviors to look for before the swarming process and techniques to prevent or at the very least, mitigate this genetic and innate second form of reproduction.
Scott and Kari Mofford have been beekeepers since 2011, both completing bee school at NCBA and becoming members of PCBA shortly after. Scott also graduated from the Cornell Master Beekeeper program in 2019. Both Kari and Scott have many interests outside of beekeeping; one of which is being members of Southeastern Massachusetts Mineral Club where they enjoy going to various mines, quarries and beaches to “rock- hound“ for semi-precious stones or just a pretty rock.
